CPS Success is for Chicago parents who, like me, didn't grow up with such a complex educational system. I went to the nearest elementary school, which fed into the nearest high school, and that was that. Then I grew up, and found myself in Chicago with a child. I didn't want to flee to the burbs and paying for private school would be tough. So I dug in to CPS.
And you know what? CPS has amazing schools! A lot of them! And your kid doesn't have to be a genius to get in! Today I have a happy 3rd grader at a wonderful arts-based elementary and we couldn't be happier.
Admitedly, I wish it were a simpler process. There's a lot to it - from the various types of schools to the lottery and even how schools rank you for waitlists.
